PINE BURR LODGE

1929

Pine Burr Lodge was originally built in 1929 by Dr. Will Zimmerman as a private retreat during the Great Depression. Set on more than 5 acres along the shore of Lake Zimmerman — a private, renowned fishing lake in Pauline, South Carolina — the Lodge began as a rustic cabin on a peninsula overlooking the water. Over the decades it has been thoughtfully preserved and expanded, blending original details — slate floors, pine rafters, a granite fireplace, chestnut doors — with modern comforts, while still carrying the character and quiet of the original 1929 retreat.
